Guía de Inicio para el Día de la Libertad del Software - DLS

Esta guía de inicio está diseñada para presentarte al Día de la Libertad del Software - DLS y para proporcionarte algunos consejos e indicadores para organizar tu propio evento de equipo de DSL. Si tienes preguntas por favor inscríbete y usa la lista de correo de los equipos o contáctanos a través del formulario de contacto. Puedes interactuar también con nosotros en la sala #sfd en irc.freenode.net (vínculo dírecto del IRC, vínculo del chat web) si quieres cruzar ideas u obtener más consejo.

Formar un Equipo Local de DLS puede ser una experiencia efectiva de construcción comunitaria divertida para su grupo local de usuarios y para su comunidad. El Día de la Libertad del Software es un día de salir al alcance inspirar a los que nuevos con los valores de Libertad del movimiento de Softwre Libre a traves de actividad de tu elección. ¿Existe algo relevante localmente a tu país o región que requieres expresar? ¿Hay una gran historia de éxito local que queres decir?

El Dia de la Libertad del Software es tu oportunidad de estar unido con la comunidad entera del Software Libre en lo que estamos juntos: la Libertad.

¿Cómo puedo celebrar el Día de la Libertad del Software?

Hay dos maneras primarias de celebrar el DLS:

Únete a un equipo local del DLS y ayuda a hacer del evento un éxito.
Inicia tu propio equipo local del DSL!

El DSL será más efectivo si mantenemos algunos grupos objetivos en mente:

Familias
Gobierno
Pequeños negocios
Grandes negocios
Instituciones educativas

Pasos para armar tu equipo

Lee el Código la página del CodeOfConduct page y verifica si estás de acuerdo.
Inscríbete en la lista SFD-announce mailing list. Esta es una lista en la que se organiza el evento y se propagan noticias acerca de él. Si no deseas recibir muchos correos, te recomendamos incribirte en modo "agrupado". SEleccionando esa opción al momento de suscribirte.
Crea una página en este wiki bajo tu continente / paíspara que te prepares - necesitarás inscribirte o autenticarte como usuario para poder editar páginas. Por favor asegúrate de leer las instrucciones para crear una nueva página de equipo.
Crea un acceso directo a la página de tu equipo si así lo deseas.
Registra tu equipo. ¡Si te registras antes de la fecha límite tu equipo recibirá algunos regalos para ayudarte a hacer tu evento sorprendente! Mira la página de Registro para verificar la fecha.
Revisa la página de competencias para encontrar formas de que tu equipo pueda ganar grandes premios! Asegúrate de estar al tanto de la lista de correo por los anuncios y por compartir información con otros equipos.

El evento DSL promedio usualmente requiere solamente un o algunos organizadores para compartir la carga y asegurarse que el evento salga bien. Con frecuencia puedes reclutar ayuda de:

Usuarios de grupos de usuarios de GNU.
Grupos de intereses especiales (lenguajes de programación, distribuciones, aplicaciones, etc. )
Escuelas, colegios y universidades
Clubes de informática
Familia y amigos
Compañías (desarrolladores, mercadeo, etc.)

Hemos encontrado que el evento puede unir a grupos locales así como hacer crecer la comunidad en general. El número de colaboradores requeridos depende del tipo de actividad que escojas pero en general, mientras más consigas es mejor. De esa forma, la gente se divierte y también se vuelve un evento social. Si tus voluntarios se divierten, pasarán una buena vibra y ofrecerán colaborar el próximo año también

Recuerda, somos todos voluntarios, así que hacemos lo que podemos y queremos. Debemos siempre agradecer a nuestros voluntarios y asegurarnos de que se diviertan.

¿Qué debemos hacer?

¡Se creativo! Puedes organizar cualquier tipo de evento del DSL que desees. Tu equipo de organizadores pueden encontrar una localidad / horario para sus encuentros y hacer lluvias de ideas / conversar acerca del evento.

Plantea tus metas como: objetivos, audiencia, escala, estilo, tema
Horario del evento (¿en la mañana, en la tarde, en la noche o será un evento de todo el día? ¿por qué?)
¿Quiénes pueden ser: maestro de ceremonias, anfitrión, conferencistas?
¿Qué debe ser incluido como contenido?

Solamente para empezar, aquí hay algunas ideas que ha dado la gente:

Tener un día de campo o barbacoa libre
Armar un puesto en un evento, feria o kermesse.
Reunirte con escuelas, colegios, universidades y otra gente que pueda beneficiarse de la Libertad del Software.
Hacer una compaetencia, la mejor múscia hecha con software libre, gráficos, vídeo corto
Armar un puesto público simple y repartir discos.
Hacer demostraciones en un espacio público y mostrar tu software libre
Levar a cabo talleres de instalación y festivales de instalación en escuelas, schools, businesses or other areas
Hold a seminar on IP, Free Culture, Patents, etc
Have a cultural event - food, drink, music (jam session? - "open-source music").
Organise an expo to highlight local FOSS success stories

Presupuesto

Depending on the sort of activity and scale of your event, you may need to set a budget for the event. It's good to prepare a budget plan and find ways to finance it, there are usually a few ways:

Sponsorship from Free Software Friendly Companies
Donation from members of local communities and computer clubs
Sharing cost among the participants

If you plan to raise fund, it's good to prepare a proposal clearly specify the event details suggested as below and then approach different Free Software companies / organisations.

Objective of the event
Target audiences
Messages to be delivered
Date and venue
Activity scale and form
Estimated budget plan
Benefits of sponsorship / donation

Promover el evento con antelación

It is very important to communicate the event to your target audiences, there are a lot of ways just to name a few here:

Posters and flyers: Download the poster design from here (tbc), put your event details, print them out and post them in selected places two weeks before the event
Announcement in different websites and mailing list: e.g. GNU/Linux User Groups, Computer Clubs, Interested groups, Colleges and Universities
Press release: if you have connection with local press of your country / city, approach them, either send them a press release to build awareness of your event before and after the event or host an interview if possible. Otherwise, you can always approach local technology / IT related journalists to do so. You may want to contact them to make them come to the event.
Social Networking: Status.net, Identi.ca, Twitter, Facebook, etc.
Word of mouth: ask around to bring friends, families and co-workers to the event

Prepararse para el día

Below is a basic checklist that should cover most events that you would plan on running:

Got your volunteers organised?
Your venue is well prepared? Have microphones? Video Projectors? White Screens? Whiteboards? Notice boards? Network?
Do you need insurance for your event? (some people can look to larger organisations to help out with this. Ask around)
Do you have schwag to hand out? CDs, flyers, balloons? Anything shiny that will give you the chance to engage in discussion. We are proud to be able to offer to teams free materials to help you look and be great on the day!
- SFI encourages you to distribute any Free/Libre Open Source Software. Please keep in mind that what you distribute should be pleasantly usable by your target audience.
Have you liased with any other SFD teams in your region or country? Sometimes this can help with pooling resources and having a stronger all round effort
Do you have have decent signs prepared so people can find/recognise your event?
Do you have signs to tell participants how to tag, twitter, etc.?
Do you have a board to allow participants to write down what they feel about the event?
Is your event in an easy to find place that is useful to reach out to a broad new audience?

Administración in-situ

According to experiences, there are a few things you may want to pay attention during the events.

Documenting the whole event by pictures or video and share them in different channels, it is suggested to tag the pictures to "softwarefreedomday"
Interviewing audiences to get feedback of the event (as sometimes paper surveys may not get the same result)
Others would be the temperature, ventilation, sound level of the speakers, noise control from audiences

Luego del evento

You may want to gather those materials that can be reused for the next event.
Of course you have to indulge yourselves with a good meal to talk about the feeling of the event together with the other volunteers, saying thank you to all the volunteers are very important as well.
Encourage those volunteers / yourself taken pictures during the event, ask organizers and audiences for their feedback, post them in websites and / or blog about it so that we can reach out even more people
Send a press release to different press
Send thank you letter and report summary to sponsors, speakers and supporting organizations

Report on your event! You can create your own team gallery, and we'll have an easy report webform for you to fill in after the event.
