Software Freedom Day is celebrated worldwide to promote Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) and the cause behind it. This year, for the first time, it is being celebrated in Bhubaneswar. When FOSS is bringing a large change in the world, a big share of that is also going to impact native languages and cultures. All of these, and particularly the Odia-language Wikimedia projects will form the basis of the discussion at this event.
ଓଡ଼ିଆ: ଖୋଲା ସଫ୍ଟଓଏର ବ୍ୟବବାର ଓ ଏହା ପଛରେ ଥିବା ଉଦ୍ଦେଶ୍ୟର ପ୍ରଚାର ପ୍ରସାର ପାଇଁ ସଫ୍ଟଓଏର ସ୍ୱାଧୀନତା ଦିବସ ବିଶ୍ୱବ୍ୟାପୀ ପାଳିତ ହୋଇଥାଏ । ଏ ବର୍ଷ ପ୍ରଥମ କରି ଭୁବନେଶ୍ୱରରେ ଏହା ପାଳନ ହେଉଛି । ଖୋଲା ସଫ୍ଟଓଏର ଆମ ଚାରିପାଖର ପୃଥିବୀରେ ଖୁବ କମ ଦିନ ଭିତରେ ଅନେକ ବିରାଟ ପରିବର୍ତ୍ତନ ଆଣୁଛି । ସେସବୁ ପରିବର୍ତ୍ତନ ତଥା ଭାଷା ଓ ସଂସ୍କୃତିର ବିକାଶରେ ସଫ୍ଟଓଏର ସ୍ୱାଧୀନତା ଓ ବିଶେଷ କରି ଓଡ଼ିଆ ଉଇକିମିଡ଼ିଆ ପ୍ରକଳ୍ପଗୁଡ଼ିକଙ୍କ ଭୂମିକା ବାବଦରେ ଏହି ସଭାରେ ଆଲୋଚନା କରାଯିବ ।

Organizers
Odia Wikimedia User Group, a Wikimedia affiliate that works for growing the Wikimedia projects in Odia language and their contributor communities, O Foundation, a nonprofit that works towards research and development of open STEM resources with a focus on languages, and Eastern Media Limited, a media organization that publishes the largest Odia-language-daily and hosts a television channel, a radio channel and several educational institutions in Bhubaneswar collaborated together to organize this event.
