New Haven Software Freedom Day Cryptoparty

Software Freedom day is on Saturday, September 20th. This is our planning page for the New Haven event. Details are still in flux. If you are interested in attending, then please let us know:

When: 9/20 from 11:00am to 2:00pm

Where: MakeHaven 266 State St New Haven, CT 06510

Loose Agenda

Our event takes place at the MakeHaven makerspace in downtown New Haven, where we have been facilitating workshops on GNU/Linux and other FOSS topics. We will start the day with a video by Richard Stallman from his recent TED talk, emphasizing the problems posed by proprietary software and digital handcuffs. After that, we'll play with some basic crypto tools, introducing new users to the options available (TAILS, OTR, etc.) Depending on the group, it may turn into an all-out cryptoparty, or remain just a casual introduction. Pizza will be had by all.
