About Manchester

About Manchester Free Software

Manchester Free Software (MFS) aims to promote the free software philosophy, centred in Manchester. We provide a friendly and accessible community to learn about and discuss free software.

Event Aim

Our aim for Software Freedom Day (SFD) is to celebrate software freedom, and to engage with and encourage personal computer users, local businesses, government bodies and other groups to use Free Software and to promote the Free Software philosophy.

When?

Saturday, 21st September 2013.

Where?

The Castle Hotel in the Northern Quarter.

66 Oldham St, Manchester, M4 1LE. 0161 237 9485.

Parking?

The venue parking facilities are not amazing. There are parking meter bays on the street but its very expensive, only really good for a short stop. There are paid parking lots around the venue, the light blue P in this OpenStreetMap centred on The Castle Hotel, though we can't vouch for how good they are. A lot of them, perhaps all, are are owned by NCP. If you can't decide otherwise then park in Manchester Arndale.

Public Transport?

Manchester Victoria (MCV) train station, Shudehill tram station and Manchester Piccadilly bus station are all fairly close to The Castle Hotel, see OpenStreetMap centred on The Castle Hotel. Manchester Piccadilly (MAN) train station and Manchester Central Coach Station are not too far either.
