Embilipitiya is a rapidly growing town in Ratnapura District in Sri Lanka. In the 1970s it was a small town with two or three small boutiques. Under the Udawalawe development project, Embilipitiya became a big town and currently it is one of towns in Sri Lanka with a modern infrastructure. Embilipitiya is becoming the Centrl hub and the commercial centre of Greater Hambantota development project. Embilipitiya is the nearest city to Sooriyawewa International Cricket Stadium and Mattala International Airport. The six lanes main access road to Mattala Airport is coming from Embilipitiya.
ඇඹිලිපිටිය, ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ රත්නපුර පරිපාලන දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ ඇති නගරයකි . 1970 ට ප්‍රථම ඇඹිලිපිටිය කුඩා නගරයක් වූ අතර කුඩා වෙළෙඳසැල් කිහිපයක් පමණක් එහි තිබුණි . මහවැලි ව්‍යාපාරයත් සමග උඩවලව ජලාශය ඉදිවූ පසු මෙම ප්‍රදේශය සංවර්දනය විය.පසුව සංවර්දන ව්‍යාපෘතීන් කිහිපයක්ම ඇඹිලිපිටිය ප්‍රදේශයේ සිදු වූ අතර ඒ අතරින් සෙවනගල සිනි කර්මාන්තශාලාව ,උදාකළ ගම්මාන ,චන්ද්‍රිකාවැව ජලාශය ප්‍රදාන වෙති. මේවනවිට ඇඹිලිපිටිය කෙසෙල් වගාව වැඩි වශයෙන් සිදුකරන ප්‍රදේශයකි.
