= CORDS = CORDS stands for Computer Oriented Research and Development Group. It is a group founded by CSE and IT students from University Institute of Engineering and Technology. We are going to organize SFD for the 1st time, but we are sure to have more than a 100 participants. :) We are gonna follow a similar event routine like the one for the SFD we attended last year. 1) There will be free cake for all the attendees, the organisers will pool money to buy it. 2) We will hold the following talks:- 1. What is Open Source? Getting started with Ubuntu! (Includes Installation) 2. Beginning your journey in Open Source. (Very basics to use Linux) 3. GNOME 3 vs KDE 4.9.0, a gory battle! 4. What is SFD? and why it matters? 5. What is Google Summer of Code and how to get selected! 6. Presentation relating Internet surveillance laws 7. Use of free software in education, and the business of free software 8. Your first GUI program using Qt and C++ 9. Python -- a beginners guide 10. Android, and its Mods - Cynagon 11.Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome, and how the browsing giants made their way to the Top. 12. Basic Linux commands and scripts. 3)A small question answer round(a gifts for correct answers) 4) We will distribute goodies to the attendees, some of which we will get from you and we will try to make a custom Tee-shirt for our own SFD! ---- CategoryTeam2013
