About Us

Manchester Free Software (MFS) aims to promote the free software philosophy, centred in Manchester. We provide a friendly and accessible community to learn about and discuss free software.

Our Aim

SFD2010

Preparations are under way for SFD2010 in Manchester. The date and venue have been arranged. We have organised several activities and helpers. We are arranging more activities and helpers. If you would like to help with the event then please contact us at fsuk-manchester-team@nongnu.org .

When?

Saturday, 18th September 2010.

10am to 4pm.

Where?

Madlab - Manchester Digital Laboratory, 36-40 Edge Street, Manchester M4 1HN.

"(Between Thomas St and the Craft Centre, opposite A Bar Called Common)"

Parking?

The venue parking facilities are not amazing. There are parking meter bays on the street but its very expensive, only really good for a short stop. There are paid parking lots around the venue, the light blue P in this OpenStreetMap centred on Madlab, though we can't vouch for how good they are. A lot of them, perhaps all, are are owned by NCP, NCP parking around Madlab.

Public Transport?

Victoria train station, Shudehill tram station and Piccadilly Gardens coach station are all fairly close to Madlab, see OpenStreetMap centred on Madlab. Piccadilly station is not too far either.
