Gwalior (Hindi: ग्वालियर) is a city in Madhya Pradesh in India. It lies 76 miles (122 km) south of Agra and has a population of over 1.2 million. The Gwalior metropolitan area is the 46th most populated area in the country, and known as the tourist capital of Madhya Pradesh.

Gwalior occupies a strategic location in the Gird region of India, and the city and its fortress have served as the center of several of North India's historic kingdoms. At present its strategic location is also marked by the presence of a major air base at Maharajpura. Gwalior is the administrative headquarters of Gwalior district and Gwalior division.

Students Forum for Free Open Source Software (SF-FOSS) is a Students Forum established under Atal Bihari Vajpayee - Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management(ABV-IIITM), Gwalior which aims at developing Open sourcing solutions for various problems existing in present date. This forum is one of the first forums launched by an Indian Institute to contribute to the development of Open Source Softwares. The forum is highly committed towards improving the present day technology as well as the society in long term by using Open sourcing norms.

Free Open Source Software (FOSS) is software which is liberally licensed to grant the right of users to study, change, and improve its design through the availability of its source code. It helps in technological development of the society by making open source softwares available. The Green tree symbolizes the Open Source Software movement which is growing steadily and as time passes its roots are spreading so as to involve software developers from around the globe to contribute to the growth of Open Source Software community. The Compact disks symbolizes the software which is being developed by the efficient coders involved in the open source software movement throughout the globe. The bi colored leaves of this tree indicate the technological development and the society. The society is developing technologically and the technology in turn is helping the society to reach a higher stage of development. The birds in the logo indicate Freedom; in terms of software developers it indicates the freedom of sharing and collectively developing any computer application that is useful for the society in general. The penguin, java cup and the symbol indicate the technology which is developing day by day under the ever green branches of this Open Source Software tree.

The forum would be emphasizing on the following objectives. These would provide the guidelines to steer the various activities as well as to develop the forum with the changing trends of time.
