Teams had to prepare and submit an entry and in 2009 we received some amazing submissions. Below are both the top 3 winners as well as some highly commended entries. All these entries represent incredible efforts to take Software Freedom to the general public. Software Freedom International thanks all participants for their efforts. Thank you! They also were particularly innovative, successful, and a great example of what Software Freedom Day is all about. Congratulations to our SFD 2009 competition winners! === Bluepoint Linux User Elite === Since 2007 Bluepoint has been hosting its Software Freedom Day event to build awareness of software freedom in its local area. In 2009, with a team size of 34 members, Bluepoint Software Freedom Day reached over 500 participants! The reserved three venues were packed with speakers. There were also exhibitions for showcasing different Free Software throughout the whole day. Its promotion job is well done with even TV advertising. A great job by the team and congratulations! The event was full of innovation ideas like FOSS Solidarity Candle light vigil, Live Tux, Open Art and signature campaign. The event venue was very nice and relaxing with indoor and outdoor area that cope with both presentations and participant interaction purpose. With involvement of Government, communities, universities and companies, FOSS Nepal did an excellent job in bringing Software Freedom to different segments. It's double meaning slogan definitely emphasize a lot on the Software Freedom! The whole event lasted for 7 hours and attracted 400 participants. Its activities include presentation of both general and technical talks, demonstration of GNU / Linux distribution and Free software, installfest, dancing, business track, contest, discussion, awarding...
