Sydenham GNU/Linux Users

Home of SFD New Zealand from year one, 2004, and every year since. (SFD has come and gone elsewhere in NZ.)

Event run by Sydenham GNU/Linux Users at South Library on SFD Saturday.

South Learning Centre lab at South Christchurch Library in Cashmere is used to demonstrate alternative desktop environments on quality i5 computers, from 10am to 4pm on 16 September 2017, with LiveDVD or thumbdrive installs of freenix* distributions. Mint and Ubuntu-MATE Debian GNU/Linux variants are most on display but all BYO distros are welcome for helpers to bring to https://my.christchurchcitylibraries.com/locations/SOUTH/

Sydenham GNU/Linux Users forked from Canterbury Linux Users Group (famously, "there is no CLUG")** to run south Christchurch monthly meetings and SFD events from 2004. We continued CLUG's temporary use of the Sydenham Community Centre (after CLUG moved to St Albans Community Centre in north Christchurch) initially, then relocated to the newly-built South Library.

N.B. It is SFD admin (and only Fred Mueller) who drops our GNU/ to call us "SLUG" :-P lol.

'Sydenham Linux Users of GNU', we are having to accept ;)
