FredLUG

The Fredericksburg Linux Users Group (FredLUG) is a group of Linux and free and open source software (FOSS) fans. We meet and discuss FOSS and Linux, troubleshoot and solve IT problems using FOSS, and advocate Linux and FOSS to the greater Fredericksburg community. We welcome Linux users, developers, and anyone curious about Linux and FOSS. All experience levels are welcome.

Here's how to find us:

  1. At our meetings (unless otherwise posted):
    1. 3rd Monday of each month at 7PM (1900), at the Central Rappahannock Regional Library Headquarters Branch at 1201 Caroline Street, Fredericksburg, VA 22401
    2. Last Saturday of each month at 9AM (0900), at the Central Rappahannock Regional Library England Run Branch at 806 Lyons Boulevard, Fredereicksburg, VA 22406
  2. We have an email list—the link to join the list is at http://calypso.tux.org/mailman/listinfo/fredlug. You can peruse the archives at http://calypso.tux.org/pipermail/fredlug/.

  3. You also may find us at the IRC channel #FredLUG on irc.freenode.net.
  4. By visiting our website at http://fredlug.info

For SFD 2012, we'll set up a table outside the main Library (at the corner of Caroline and Lewis Streets downtown) where there is a lot of pedestrian traffic. We'll have different distributions of Linux running on laptops for visitors to try out, as well as a couple of older model XO OLPC units, which are proven child pleasers while we talk with the adults they are with. We'll have an ample supply of Fedora and Ubuntu install media, as well as copies of FOSS Open Disc software. We update each year a one-page sheet that describes what Open Source software is about and the many things that can be done with it.
