2012/Belize/Belmopan
The City of Belmopan is located in the Cayo District. Belmopan sits near the junction of the Western Highway, which leads from Belize City to San Ignacio (22 miles) and the Guatemalan border, with the Hummingbird Highway, the scenic road which runs from Belmopan south-east to Dangriga (47 miles) on the Caribbean coast. Belmopan is the capital of our beautiful country Belize. It is also known as the "Garden City" much of which is attributed to its spacious terrain and tranquil environment. Today it stands as the central location for all of the Government Offices of the country. The banks, a number of embassies and the main campus for the University of Belize are all within walking distance. With a population of about 7,100 makes it the smallest capital in the world.
